Charles Pettee has delighted audiences with a tasty blend of original and traditional American folk, bluegrass, and Celtic music seasoned at more than 4,000 performances throughout the US, Canada, and Europe for over 25 years. As the mandolin player, singer and songwriter for Flying Fish recording artist The Shady Grove Band, Charles brings a wealth of musical experience to the teaching studio. He is an encouraging and enthusiastic instructor, comfortable with all ages and skill levels from beginner to advanced.
Our shy middle-school-aged son has blossomed, even performing at a number of "open mike" events for fun! He has grown tremendously in skill, moving from reading sheet music to playing and improvising by ear, and he always looks forward to playing with Charles at his weekly lesson.
If you're looking for an accomplished performer who is also a great teacher, Pettee is your man. He takes you where you are in ability and moves you forward in both theory and practice. The experience is very enjoyable, especially for amateurs like myself.
